This single fourposter bed is probably the ultimate princess bed a design which takes the same 12 weeks to hand carve as it does for the larger sizes.
As with all our fourposters and furniture traditional cabinet chassis construction incorporating mortise tenon, butterfly, mitre joints and floating panels are used in addition to the intricate carved detail and beautiful tapered barley twist posts.
All of this work is done using hand tools there are no lathes or CNC routers.
The main strength of the bed is in the lower area the stronger you make this the better. This is why the posts are fixed to the base of the bed and then separated below the barley twists, it also ensures the bed can be easily installed in your bedroom.
Standard practice is to use a round wood dowel used to connect the posts, how ever this permits rotational movement and can result in movement in the post.
For this reason we have incorporated narrow thread 12 mm steel bolts with to the posts as opposed to round wood dowels more commonly used.
In our Queen Anne four poster and sleigh beds we use male/female brackets at each corner with a custom made bolt retained within the bed avoiding it going through the footboard covered by a brass plate.
Finials at the top are removable for those with close ceiling heights or simply for a different look.
It is also possible to have the Single Queen Anne in our painted distressed and walnut distressed finish please contact us for details
