Sleigh Bed (French sleigh bed or lits en bateaux) Walnut distressed king size.

This evergreen reproduction design popular is a style associated from the period of King Louis Philippe and if you like this style

take a look at our ? Cambrian sleigh, and Tamara sleigh bed for alternatives on the same theme. In our walnut distressed

finish you will have a look unlike any other on the market place. We use the longstanding traditional techniques used for

centuries to distress by hand using cat o' nine tails and blade/glass

Our French Sleigh Bed is traditionally crafted, hand carved from non indigenous plantation Swietenia mahogany 'Brazilian

mahogany' more info  incorporating hand carved scrolls, curved sides, floating panels in the foot and headboard.

With the additional use of stressing techniques utilising cat o' nine tails and glass with secondary staining the finish on

this bed takes 30 steps and 15 days to complete. This means the grain and character of our beds and furniture is showcased

and drawn forward delivering huge ?Wow? factor and protection of your investment for decades.

When we use the whip and glass it is a controlled skilled application that is repeated a number of times from raw timber

through to final finish effectively ageing the distressed element.

One of our pictures shows an end view of a side rail from our mahogany finished Sleigh Bed you can see four key elements

providing the following information ?

1. Our finish, clearly not waxed.

2. 1 1/4 inch solid timber in just one part of the rail.

3. Depth of colour in the timber itself revealing older timber.

4. Use of opposing grain directions minimising movement.
